The Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra are some of the most refined smartphones on the market and the result of a lot of research and development across different aspects of technology, from chemistry to semiconductors and recycling. Samsung R&D Institute Noida (SRI-N) contributed to the development of the Galaxy S23 series in a few ways, particularly around improving the user experience and safety features.

Samsung revealed today that the SRI-N R&D Center in India worked closely with teams in South Korea to develop breakthrough innovations that were added to the Galaxy S23 series through One UI. For starters, SRI-N helped create features like the Galaxy to Share app for the Good Lock suite, the multi-timer feature, the Bedtime Alarm, and the Direct Dial 4×1 home screen widget.

Health and Emergency features were made in India

In addition, SRI-N engineers have contributed to the user experience with a Sleep Tracker widget, and the Water tracker, Body Composition monitor, Cycle tracker, and heart rate monitor in Samsung Health.

Last but not least, Samsung says that some of the Galaxy S23's most robust user safety features were developed by engineers at SRI-N. The developers created the Emergency SOS and Emergency Sharing feature, which allows Galaxy S23 users in emergencies to press the side button three times and send help messages containing their location and a short video recording.

These tools and One UI elements are not exclusive to the Galaxy S23 series, but SRI-N helped bring them to light and make them available for the latest Samsung flagship phones. These, by the way, are available for purchase outright now that the pre-order period has ended.
