Last year, Samsung launched SmartThings Pro. Based on SmartThings, this Internet-of-Things (IoT) platform is made for businesses, allowing them to control smart products in their organisations with ease. Well, we will soon see it in Kia’s upcoming lineup of electric commercial vehicles called Platform Beyond Vehicles (PBVs).
Samsung has announced that it has partnered with Kia to integrate Samsung’s SmartThings Pro into Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicles (PBVs). This integration will allow businesses to easily control various aspects of these electric commercial vehicles, such as their air conditioning and content on the signage board. However, its full scope is still unknown.
Commenting on this achievement, Samsung’s Executive Vice President of B2B Integrated Offering Center, Chanwoo Park, said “By integrating SmartThings Pro into Kia PBV, we plan to present an intelligent new way for businesses to be connected to their customers. We will provide an optimized integrated store management experience based on customized solutions to cater for a range of B2B customers including the self-employed and small business owners.”
Kia’s Head of PBV Division, Sangdae Kim, said “Kia PBVs are designed to be more than just vehicles, they are intelligent business solutions that connect seamlessly with digital ecosystems. We anticipate that our business collaboration with Samsung Electronics, leveraging its AI B2B solution SmartThings Pro, will extend the vehicle user experience for our business customers beyond PBVs into the broader IoT ecosystem. This partnership is expected to create new opportunities for discovering customer value.”
