Samsung's display are ready to comply with the EU's Radio Equipment Directive

On 1 August 2025, the European Union’s (EU) Radio Equipment Directive (RED) regulation will go into effect. It requires products with certain connectivity options, including Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, and Zigbee, to meet a set of electromagnetic compatibility, health, radio spectrum, and safety regulations. Well, Samsung’s display are ready to comply with it.

Samsung has announced that TÜV SÜD has evaluated the South Korea tech giant’s entire lineup of consumer and commercial displays for 2024-2025, including monitors, TVs, digital signages and e-color displays, for compliance with the European Union Radio Equipment Directive and offered it the EU RED Cybersecurity Certification.

Commenting on the achievement, Samsung Electronics’ Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business, Taeyong Son, said “With the growing emphasis on security in the industry, we are strengthening security features to stay ahead of this evolving trend. In addition to this achievement, we are committed to introducing innovations with advanced security and technology globally, thereby reinforcing customer trust in our solutions.”

The EU introduced the RED in 2014. Eight years down the line, it expanded cybersecurity rules under the regulation to protect people against network threats, safeguard their personal data, and reduce the risk of fraud. Now, the EU is finally enforcing the regulation. Samsung says that it is “actively extending this compliance process to all applicable product lines as part of its global regulatory readiness strategy.”
