Besides making some of the world’s best smartphones, Samsung also produces class-leading OLED panels. Samsung Display’s OLED panels are used by most monitor and smartphone brands globally. Now, it is being reported that the company has begun making next-generation laptop OLED panels for Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro laptops.

According to a tipster, Samsung Display has started the mass production of newer-generation OLED panels for laptops. They are reportedly being manufactured at the company’s Asan A6 plant, which houses an 8.6-generation OLED production line that makes dual-stack OLED panels. The first device to use these panels is reportedly Apple’s next MacBook Pro, which is expected to launch in late 2026.

These new OLED panels are said to offer the best image quality ever seen on a laptop display. Mass production was initially expected to begin in the second quarter of this year, but it appears to have started at least three months earlier.

Dual-stack, also known as tandem OLED, panels deliver higher brightness levels and a longer lifespan compared to current laptop OLEDs, making them particularly well suited for laptops. Upcoming MacBook Pros are also rumored to feature a touchscreen display and a Dynamic Island-style punch-hole cutout for the first time.

In addition to the new display technology, the next MacBook Pro is expected to be powered by M6 series chips, feature an upgraded FaceTime camera, and arrive with a thinner and lighter design.
