Samsung updates Galaxy Watch 8 series with February 2026 security patch

Samsung has released software updates for two of its three latest flagship smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. They offer the February 2026 security patch, fixing 37 security issues. The updates are available for the non-cellular and cellular variants of the two smartwatches.

They come with firmware versions ending with AZB1. From what we could gather, Samsung seems to be rolling out these updates worldwide. To check if the brand has made them available in your country and for your device, go to Watch settings > Watch software update and tap Download and install.

Usually, Samsung offers a new security update first to new and high-end devices, and then to older and more affordable ones. However, that hasn't been the case with the February 2026 security patch. The brand first offered it to the Galaxy Watch 7 series, and then to the Galaxy Watch 8 lineup, with the Galaxy Watch Ultra yet to get it.

Speaking of Samsung wearables, the brand recently announced that it will use Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset for its next smartwatch. It is Qualcomm's latest flagship SoC for smartwatches. Samsung's next high-end smartwatch is expected to be the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. The brand may launch it in July this year.
