We can now confirm that Samsung is working on a new Galaxy Book series, i.e., the Galaxy Book 6. That was to be expected, given Samsung's laptop release timeline in the past few years. But here's the exciting part: we can also confirm that Samsung is developing a Galaxy Book 6 Ultra model!
The last Ultra laptop from Samsung was the Galaxy Book 4 Ultra. Samsung skipped the Ultra with the release of the Galaxy Book 5 series and released only the base, Pro, and 360/Pro 360 models. Now, the company is planning a comeback for the beefed-up variant.
Although we can't confirm any specifications at the moment, Samsung's past Ultra laptops have been different in one key aspect. Namely, they featured a dedicated GPU, unlike the other models that rely on integrated Intel graphics chips.
The Galaxy Book 6 Ultra may follow the same traditional formula. It could be the only one in the upcoming Samsung laptop series to boast a dedicated GPU. It would make the Galaxy Book 6 Ultra the laptop of choice for users who want to game on their laptops or need to perform GPU-intensive tasks.
Both the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra and Book 4 Ultra offered similar GPU options: an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 or an RTX 4070. As mentioned before, Samsung never released a Galaxy Book 5 Ultra variant.
Meanwhile, after the Book 4 Ultra went on sale, Nvidia released a new RTX 5000 series of laptop-grade GPUs. Once again, we can't confirm any Galaxy Book 6 Ultra specs at the moment, but it stands to reason that Samsung may adopt a newer RTX 5000 solution for the next-gen laptop.
As to when Samsung might release the Galaxy Book 6 series, including the Ultra, that's anyone's guess. It could be this year or the next.
It's also worth noting that Samsung released some of its previous Galaxy Book versions at different times, so it is possible that the next-gen Book 6 Ultra could see a dedicated launch, separate from the rest of the series. We'll let you know when we find out more.
