Called the SDI Research & Development China, or SDIRC, the facility will collaborate with universities and research institutions in China to to secure localized technologies, collaborate with local talent, and analyze industry trends.

Major universities in China are also offering programs to train future battery professionals. A research lab will be dedicated at the SDIRC to develop and verify battery materials.
