It has been rumored for months now that Samsung has smart glasses in the pipeline, but the company hadn't confirmed when they'd arrive.

Samsung has now acknowledged for the first time that it intends to launch these wearable devices, including AR glasses, in 2026.

Glasses to offer multimodal AI experiences

Samsung dived into AR/XR hardware last year with the launch of its Galaxy XR headset. It also became common knowledge then that the company is working on at least two different types of smart glasses, one of which will have augmented reality capabilities.

During Samsung's Q4 2025 earnings call today, EVP of Mobile Experiences Seong Cho confirmed that the company will launch smart glasses in 2026. He highlighted Samsung's focus on delivering multimodal AI experiences through “next-generation AR glasses.”

Earlier reporting has suggested that at least one of the smart glasses will feature a 12-megapixel camera, a 155mAh battery, and a Qualcomm AR1 chipset. Gemini will likely play a crucial role in delivering AI features on the wearable device.

Few, if any, details are available about the AR-capable smart glasses which are expected to arrive a bit later once the RayBan Meta-like pair is released. Still, the company hasn't highlighted precisely when it will release its first pair.

Given that there's still a long way to go before this year is up, we may have to wait for some time before Samsung brings out these products. It depends where the company places them in its product launch cycle, as Q1 will be all about the Galaxy S26 series and its new mid-range phones, followed by the foldables in the second half of the year.
