On 29 September, Samsung released a software update to the Galaxy S23 series that offered the much-awaited One UI 8.0 (Android 16). However, almost a month later, on 21 October, the brand paused the rollout for reasons that remain unclear (though it may have had to do something with boot issues).

Samsung resumed the rollout a few days later, and the update now appears to be widely available again. So if you didn’t manage to update your Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, or S23 FE when it was first released—or if you checked while the rollout was still paused—you should now be able to download and install it without any issues.

To check for the update, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Samsung is expected to start rolling out the next OS customisation for Galaxy smartphones, One UI 8.5, by February or March next year, and is already preparing the update for the Galaxy S23 lineup.

You can check out the key upgrades that that One UI 8.5 will offer, at least the ones we have discovered in leaked firmware, in our video below. Find more One UI 8 and One UI 8.5 content on our YouTube channel.
