Samsung has announced that India’s Government of Karnataka has awarded Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore (SRI-B) with the Innovation Excellence Award at the Global Investors Meet – Invest Karnataka 2025, setting a new milestone for the South Korean tech giant.
Samsung set up SRI-B in 1996. It is the brand’s largest research and development center outside of its home country, creating cutting-edge technologies across a wide range of fields. Since then, it has filed more than 11,000 patents, making it India’s number one patent filer.
According to the company, over the past three years, SRI-B has filed over 3,000 patents in India and globally. In 2024, 780 inventors at SRI-B filed patents. Among them, 260 were first-time inventors and many of them had less than three years of experience.
Commenting on the latest achievement, SRI-B’s Corporate Vice President and Managing Director, Mohan Rao Goli said “At SRI-B, we are deeply committed to fostering an ecosystem of intellectual property excellence. Through comprehensive training programs, a dedicated IPR portal and a strong culture of innovation, we empower our engineers with te knowledge and resources to excel in patent filing. This award from the Government of Karnataka further anchors our industry leadership.”
