Samsung Pay scores high points in an independent security test

According to an official newsroom post, Samsung revealed that in a recent security test conducted by an independent agency, Umlaut, which is a part of Accenture, the Samsung Pay app passed with flying colors. Samsung Pay managed to score 450 points out of 500 points. Moreover, the app also meets all the security standards of the test.

The app was placed in the “Very Good” category of the Umlaut rating scale. Samsung Pay meets all the requirements of the test procedure, which was divided into four categories. These categories were data traffic, compliance with security standards, data protection on smartphones, and protection against malicious attacks.

Gerrit Povel, Vice President, Direct to Consumer Division at Samsung Electronics in Germany said, “The rating ‘very good' underlines the role of Samsung Pay as a leading solution in mobile payment.”

The Samsung Pay app was further tested for impersonation attacks. Basically, this test determines how Samsung Pay stands against the attacks in which the user accidentally uses the payment app on a fake app or website. Here too, Samsung Pay met all the requirements of the test. Moreover, it is impossible to install the Samsung Pay app on a rooted phone.
