In 2019, Samsung, in its home country, South Korea, opened special service centres focused on repairing displays of foldable phones, called ‘Foldable Phone Display Unit Repair’ (converted from Korean). These facilities repair the Galaxy Z series phones' screen by replacing only parts necessary to make them work flawlessly, rather the replacing the whole display. This is not only economical for the brand and customers but also good for the environment. Well, the tech giant is now expanding the number of these service centres in the country.
Samsung has announced that it has opened eleven new Foldable Phone Display Unit Repair centres in South Korea, bringing the total number of these facilities from 147 to 158. The new service centres have come up in Euljiro and Yeouido in Seoul, Yongin-gu in Gyeonggi-do, Taebaek in Gangwon-do, Bukcheonan and Sejong in Chungcheong-do, Geochang, Mungyeong, Sangju, Yeongdeok, and Miryang in Gyeongsang-do. The new service centres will expand economic display repair to more Galaxy Z series customers in the country.
According to Samsung, at the Foldable Phone Display Unit Repair facilities, repairing screens takes more time than in the regular centres. That’s because at these centres, the brand disassembles the display unit, replaces required parts, and puts it back, as opposed to simply replacing the display unit, which takes more time. However, the brand notes that the process that the Foldable Phone Display Unit Repair facilities follow results in 26% to 37% lower repair costs.
Commenting on opening eleven new Foldable Phone Display Unit Repair facilities, Samsung Electronics’s Team Leader for Service Technology, Park Sung-Jae, said: We are continuously strengthening our services to provide a differentiated Galaxy user experience. We will achieve customer satisfaction with services that consider not only customers but also the environment. We hope that the brand opens such facilities in other countries as well.
