Samsung, via its subsidiaries Samsung Display and Harman Automotive, supplies displays and in-car experiences to many automotive brands worldwide. One of them is Zeekr, a Geely Automobile Holdings company. Now, the South Korean tech giant will be supplying three OLED screens to one more car from the Chinese brand, the Zeekr 9X plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
According to a Yonhap News Agency, Samsung Display will supply three OLED display panels to Zeekr for its 9X SUV. The first screen will be a 16-inch OLED panel for the centre information display (CID), which can show various aspects of the car and allow the driver manage them, as well as navigation and connected car experiences, such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The second display will also be a 16-inch OLED panel, but for the passenger information display (PID). Located on the dashboard, the passenger sitting in the front can watch various types of content here. The third display will be a 17-inch OLED panel for rear seat entertainment (RSE). It will slide out from the roof, and let rear passengers watch various types of content. According to Zeekr, it will be the world’s first “wing-style sliding screen.”
Commenting on it, Samsung Display's Executive Director, Choi Yong-Seok, said: “We will continue to introduce high-performance products with differentiated value to strengthen partnerships with global automakers and lead the growth of the automotive OLED market.” Speaking of Samsung's displays, the brand recently showcased a creaseless foldable display, which it may use for the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
