Samsung’s LockStar app, a module for the brand’s Good Lock app for Galaxy phones, provides you with additional options to customise the lock screen and always-on display over the ones that One UI does. Well, the company seems to have updated it with the ability to change fingerprint unlocking animation as well, on Android 16-based One UI 8.0, and, packed it with four new animations.
On X, a popular tipster, @UniverseIce reveals that Samsung has updated the LockStar app with four fingerprint unlocking animations. The first one shows sparkles as you unlock the phone. The second animation shows a cartoon-like water ripple effect. The third one shows multiple circles around the scanner as you unlock the phone. The fourth animation shows ghost and dizzy emojis.
The tipster has also posted a link to the APK. It carries version 7.0.01.5, which is not available via Galaxy Store at the moment. The LockStar app that’s available to download on Samsung’s app distribution platform carries version 7.0.00.14. Note that the newer version of the app will offer fingerprint unlocking animations only with Android 16 (One UI 8).
The fingerprint unlocking animation customisability allows you to personalise your Galaxy smartphone to a greater degree. It looks like the tipster somehow got their hands on the unreleased beta or upcoming stable build of the LockStar app. At the moment, there's no information if and when Samsung will release this version of the app to the public.
