Samsung Display has unveiled its new QD-OLED panel made for high-end monitors. It brings several advantages compared to the previous-generation panel. It offers higher brightness, improved text clarity, and a longer life. The mass production of this new QD-OLED panel was started in December 2025. It will be used by seven monitor brands, including ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI.
The company's new QD-OLED panel uses a completely new sub-pixel structure called V-Stripe (Vertical-Stripe). In this structure, each pixel's red, green, and blue sub-pixels are placed side by side vertically. This layout improves text sharpness dramatically compared to previous-generation QD-OLED monitors, making the experience of working with text a lot better.
The new panels would be great for those who have a text-heavy workload, such as coding, document editing, reading, and writing. It will compete directly with LG's new OLED panel that uses a similar pixel layout that has individual red, green, and blue sub-pixels for better text.
Previously, Samsung's QD-OLED panels used a pentile sub-pixel layout. It used a triangular arrangement in which sub-pixels are shared by two neighbouring pixels, leading to text that wasn't as sharp as regular LCD-based monitor panels.
Samsung's new QD-OLED panels also feature higher brightness, reaching up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness. They have a 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio and a 360Hz variable refresh rate. So, they are great for both gaming and productivity. The company claims that it made improvements in organic material efficiency and design optimization to make these new panels.
These new panels will be displayed at a private booth at the Encore at Wynn hotel during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026, starting January 6 in Las Vegas, USA. Samsung will likely use these panels in some of its new monitors that were recently announced, and they could be showcased at CES next week.
