A report from Korea claims that Samsung will supply 10,000 units of HBM3E 12-layer memory chips to Nvidia for its AI accelerators.

Last month, we reported that Samsung’s HBM3E chips might have finally met Nvidia's quality standards. Well, we now have information about how many of those chips Samsung will supply to Nvidia for its AI accelerators.
According to a report from AlphaBiz, Samsung will supply 10,000 units of HBM3E 12-layer chips to Nvidia. We assume that these are Samsung's top-of-the-line HBM3E-12H chips with 36GB capacity, which it launched last year.
Since the boom in the AI sector, tech companies around the world, including Apple, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI, have been setting up AI server farms, which use AI accelerators from AMD and Nvidia, and these AI accelerators use HBM3E memory chips. Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix are the only major brands making these chips. However, Nvidia hasn't been sourcing chips from Samsung as they didn't meet its quality standards.
That’s despite the South Korean tech giant offering the most advanced HBM3E chip on the market, which is HBM3E 12H, featuring 36GB capacity and 1,280 GB/s bandwidth. Samsung has been striving to make its chips meet Nvidia’s quality standard, and last month, it finally did. Nvidia's order will not only bring in more money and result in more profit, but also shoot up Samsung's stock price as it has entered another high-demand segment.
