The engineers went all "hold my beer" on this one.

Developing a device as slim as the Galaxy S25 Edge requires some bonkers engineering. There's a lot to get right when you're trying to pack high-end specs in a super slim body that's also supposed to look good and weigh as light as possible.
As the Galaxy S25 Edge goes on sale today in the US and other markets, Samsung has lifted the curtain on the incredible engineering that has gone into making this device a reality.
The task before Samsung was to not just make a slim phone, but one that could deliver a premium experience befitting the Galaxy S series. This required extensive experimentation and the development of many prototypes to test various combinations of components and structures.
To create this 5.8mm thin phone, Samsung developed a new mounting system that allowed for precision down to 0.1mm when positioning the internal components. To ensure that the device's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset doesn't run too hot, a redesigned vapor chamber was added.
A new “hole structure” was also introduced, the first on any Galaxy phone, where a portion of the front metal frame is removed so that more direct heat transfer can take place between the chipset and the vapor chamber.
The thickness of the primary camera sensor was reduced by over 10% through structural optimization of autofocus and optical image stabilization. The module's height was offset by a two-layer camera design to ensure that the device could be slimmed down as much as possible.
Ultimately, the result is a truly beautiful phone that's unlike anything we've ever seen in the Galaxy S series, one that's worthy of wearing that lineup's badge with pride.
