The best compromise between paper and digital LEGO instructions?
Reading time: 2 minutes
It's been a few years since we last talked about a Samsung and LEGO partnership, but today, Samsung announced that it has once again teamed up with the iconic toy maker.
This time, Samsung and LEGO are creating unique spaces where LEGO fans can experience the LEGO Builder mobile app running on The Premiere 5 projector — the only Samsung projector with touchscreen capabilities.
Samsung will set up these interactive spaces at six LEGO stores in South Korea. Visitors will be able to experience The Premiere 5 projector's touchscreen capabilities by assembling LEGO sets using instructions projected by the device.
More specifically, The Premiere 5 will project the LEGO Builder mobile app from a connected smartphone onto a table, and LEGO fans will be able to flip through the projected instructions using touch-based controls.

Samsung's projector achieves its touch-based capabilities through an array of infrared cameras and lasers. It's the only Samsung projector featuring these capabilities. Although The Premiere 5 is not yet available in the USA, you can buy it in markets such as Korea, Europe, the UK, and others.
Through this partnership, Samsung fans in Korea can earn discounts on The Premiere 5 projector, and LEGO fans can earn a LEGO Start Bag. Here's how it works.
Koreans who buy The Premiere 5 at a Samsung Store can visit one of the designated LEGO stores to receive a LEGO Start Bag for free. Conversely, LEGO fans who buy a product from LEGO can present the receipt to a designated Samsung store and receive a 5% discount on The Premiere 5.
It's a very clever way to promote both The Premiere 5 and LEGO's Builder mobile app. Arguably, most LEGO fans prefer using paper instructions instead of touchscreens. I know I do. However, projecting the instructions on a table and interacting with the projection through intuitive touch controls seems entertaining and almost analog.
Samsung says this collaboration with LEGO provides a fun way to show off The Premiere 5's capabilities and foster creativity. The experience zones will be available until December 31.
