Google's Gemini AI is doing a lot of the heavy lifting on Samsung's mobile devices for AI functionality. It has been a good relationship for both entities, as Google enjoys distribution of Gemini at a scale that only Samsung can provide, and the latter gets some of the best AI work to come out of Mountain View.

Samsung is doubling down on this, literally. The company's co-CEO TM Roh has said that Samsung will bring Gemini AI to 800 million mobile devices this year.

Gemini to reach an incredible scale thanks to Samsung

Samsung has already rolled out Gemini AI and its various features to more than 400 million devices in 2025. This includes both smartphones and tablets. It's now planning to double that figure to 800 million this year.

TM Roh, who was appointed the co-CEO of Samsung Electronics back in November, said that Samsung will “apply AI to all products, all functions, and all services as quickly as possible.”

Samsung clearly feels that pushing ahead with AI capabilities will give it a leg up on the competition as it has become clear that AI is more than just a passing fad. It's fundamentally changing how we interact with our devices, consume content, and be productive.

Samsung is seeing greater interest from consumers as well. Internal surveys show that awareness of its Galaxy AI brand has increased to 80% from just 30% in one year.

The company isn't just limiting its AI ambitions to mobile devices. Its home appliances are also being seasoned with AI. Samsung is evening bringing Gemini AI to its smart fridges. So in reality, Google gets a lot more scale with Samsung for Gemini than it would with any one device partner.
