Last month, Samsung unveiled its first smartphone with a tri-folding display, the Galaxy Z TriFold. Initially, the brand launched the device in its home country, South Korea, and later, in a few other regions, including China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UAE.
Samsung said that it would make the phone available to purchase in the US as well, and the company recently started showcasing it at its stores there. Finally, the tech giant has shared the launch date and the price of the phone for the US.
Samsung has announced that it will launch the Galaxy Z TriFold in the US on 30 January 2025, and people will be able to start purchasing it on the same day. The phone will come in a single storage and color option: 512GB storage and Crafted Black. It is priced at $2,899.

Samsung hasn’t mentioned any launch offers for the Galaxy Z TriFold in its press release. As a result, early buyers likely won’t receive any special benefits. When the device launches, it will stand out as the first—and only—tri-folding smartphone available in the country (even if it's technically a dual-fold).
The Galaxy Z TriFold features two displays. The outer screen is a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Ceramic 2 protection. The inner display measures 10 inches diagonally when opened and features a resolution of 2,160 x 1,584 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The phone features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. Globally, it is available with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. However, in the US, Samsung is offering it with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, as mentioned above.
The device ships with One UI 8.0 (Android 16 QPR2) and Samsung will support it with seven years of major OS and security updates. It offers unique multitasking capabilities, including the ability to run three portrait apps side by side on the foldable display.
The TriFold has a 5,600mAh battery with 45W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. For imaging and videography, the Galaxy Z TriFold has three cameras at the rear: a 200MP primary camera with a wide lens, a 12MP secondary camera with an ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP tertiary camera with a telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom.
All three cameras have phase detection autofocus, and the primary and the tertiary also offer optical image stabilisation (OIS). For selfies, there is a 10MP camera on the outer screen and a 10MP camera on the inner display. Both can record videos at up to 4K60FPS.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance, stereo speakers, ultrawide-band (UWB) connectivity, a USB Type-C port, and an Advanced Armor aluminum frame.
