Samsung surprised Galaxy Z Flip 3 owners by releasing the One UI 7 update for the 2021 flip phone earlier than expected, and the company is now extending the availability of the update to the USA. The initial release was limited to Korea, and it's good to see that exclusivity didn't last long.
Galaxy Z Flip 3 users in the US can identify the update by the build number F711USQUBKYD9 or F711U1TBUBKYDA depending on whether their device is a carrier variant or an unlocked unit. It seems none of the big carriers have released the update yet, but here's hoping that will not remain the case for long.
To download the update on your Galaxy Z Flip 3, head into its Settings » Software update menu and tap Download and install. Alternatively, download the full Android 15 firmware for your model or carrier from SamMobile and install it on the phone using a Windows PC and a USB-C cable.
When you upgrade to One UI 7, you can expect to get almost all of the features and changes as those received by newer flagship Galaxy smartphones, except for features related to Galaxy AI. You also get the latest security fixes, as the April 2025 security patch is bundled with the update.
Android 15 is the final major OS upgrade for the Galaxy Z Flip 3. It will also not get any new minor One UI updates, as Samsung is skipping straight to One UI 8, which is based on Android 16 and will come preloaded on the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
