Samsung finally made Galaxy XR a reality after teasing the headset for a couple of years. The company's efforts and its hard work in partnership with Qualcomm and Google may finally pay off. Galaxy XR was announced at a virtual event earlier today.
If you missed the big reveal, you can rewatch the livestream and see everything Samsung and Google had to show, from hardware features to the Android XR platform. If you want to read the specifics, you can check out our full Galaxy XR news recap listed below.
Galaxy XR is the first Samsung headset in a decade. It was announced ten years after the introduction of the Gear VR, but needless to say, Galaxy XR is a different type of device and far more advanced than its spiritual predecessor.
Not only is Galaxy XR a standalone device, but Samsung and Google have concentrated their efforts on creating a natural user experience by combining multimodal AI with XR. Where this new technology leads is anyone's guess.
