Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy A55 in India (via Reddit). It upgrades the phone’s operating system from One UI 7.0 (Android 15) to One UI 8.0 (Android 16), which brings many improvements, including a redesigned user interface and a ton of new features. You can check out the complete list of features by clicking here. You can also watch them in action in the video below.
Samsung started rolling out the One UI 8 update to the Galaxy A55 last week. The brand first offered it in Korea. Now, the company has released it in India. Considering that the tech giant has offered the update in India, we expect it to roll out in other regions as well. To check if Samsung has made the update available in your region, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A55 with One UI 6.1 (Android 14) and promised to offer four major OS upgrades to the phone, along with security updates for five years. The brand has already offered two major OS upgrades ( One UI 7.0 and One UI 8.0). That means the phone will get at least two new versions of One UI.
Speaking of which, Samsung is developing One UI 8.5. Last month, One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25 leaked, which reveals that it brings a redesigned UI as well as many new features. However, there’s no information on whether the brand will offer this update only to high-end devices or all Galaxy phones eligible for One UI upgrades.
