Earlier today, Samsung said it is offering free knob locks or covers to owners of certain slide-in electric ranges in the USA. These slide-in electric ranges were sold between 2013 and 2024 in the USA. It said it received reports that the knobs of its front-mounted range could be activated accidentally by people or pets. That would pose a fire hazard if any object is placed on top of the range.
To get the free knob covers or locks, people owning the following Samsung slide-in electric range models can visit this webpage or call this number. They can also reach Samsung by calling 1-833-775-0120 from 9:00 AM. to 8:00 PM. ET Monday through Friday. They can also email Samsung at [email protected].
All the models affected by the fire hazard are listed below.
This could be the primary reason Samsung introduced a hybrid knob for its new electric ranges.
Samsung has also offered a few tips for consumers who have been affected by electric ranges. Those tips include not actively cooking anything on top of the range and keeping children and pets away from the range's knob. Users should also double-check if they have turned off the electric range after cooking is done.
