You'll find divergent views on Samsung's customer service. Some will have found it to be suitable while others will say that it's been bad every time they've had to utilize it. This isn't a problem exclusive to Samsung, you'll find similar views for most companies that operate at the scale that it does.
On rare occasions, the service provided can actually exceed your expectations. In this particular case, a customer was refunded more money than they had paid for a Samsung product simply because the price had gone up.
A customer user shared their favorable experience with Samsung support on Reddit. They had bought a Samsung 990 Pro 4 TB M.2 SSD for their laptop before prices for memory products shot up. The SSD started failing randomly and then corrupted entirely after some time.
The customer reached out to Samsung support who after confirming that they couldn't fix the SSD, offered to send a replacement. They offered the heat sink model of the SSD which the customer refused because it wouldn't fit in their laptop.
Samsung support then offered to send the same model which the customer agreed to. However, after a few weeks, Samsung confirmed that they didn't have a replacement and that they'd give the customer a refund in cash.
The customer fully expected to get back what they had originally paid for the SSD, but Samsung refunded the current price, which has risen by more than 100%. So the customer ended up with $495 in their pocket.
Most people would have expected that it would just refund the original purchase price, and wouldn't have faulted the company for doing so. Good on Samsung for being cool on this.
