The 990 EVO Plus is a Gen5 PCIe NVMe SSD with sequential read/write speeds that almost match the 990 PRO. It tops 7,250/6,300MB/s.
The best thing about the 990 EVO Plus is that, despite boasting this high level of performance, it costs less than the 990 PRO. Especially given that it's discounted straight out of the gate.
Officially, Samsung's new 990 EVO Plus goes for $109 (1TB), $184 (2TB), and $344 (4TB). However, the company decided to discount the new SSD just as soon as it went on sale in the USA earlier today.
As such, you can order the 990 EVO Plus with 1TB of storage for just $89 and save $20, or you can grab the 2TB model for $149 and save $35.
Sadly, the 4TB model is out of stock as of this writing. It's unclear whether it hasn't reached the store yet or if did and already sold out, but you can keep an eye on the store if you need more than 2TB of storage. The 4TB model might pop back in stock soon.
In terms of specs, the 990 EVO Plus offers high performance, Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0, a nickel-coated controller for great efficiency, and full support for the Magician Software, which enables drive monitoring, extra encryption, and firmware updates.
