Did Samsung go too far?
Reading time: 2 minutes
An oversized Samsung Micro LED TV with an Edge-like display was not on our CES 2026 bingo card, but it's real. We caught this Samsung TV in action on the CES show floor, and it's unlike any other TV we've seen.
On the one hand, Samsung has so far focused on promoting its new 130-inch Micro RGB TV at CES 2026. The 130-inch Micro RGB TV is a commercial product so it got a lot more attention.
On the other hand, this bonkers 140-inch Micro LED TV is a prototype, which may explain why none of Samsung's recent press releases published today have mentioned it.
Nevertheless, we were lucky enough to experience it. The 140-inch Micro LED TV is as real and unconventional as prototypes can be.
Apart from its generous size and Micro LED technology, the most standout feature is the Mirror Bezel. And as long-time Samsung fans, we can't help but remember the original Galaxy Note Edge whenever we look at this bold design.
Evidently, the technology is vastly different from what we used to get in Galaxy phones. Samsung's Micro LED TV prototype doesn't have a curved Edge display. It's completely flat, and so are its bezels. But the unique Mirror Bezel area is where the magic happens.
Mirror Bezel is surprisingly dynamic and can display content or ambient colors. In some use cases, the image on the main TV screen extends across the bezels.
In other demos, the Mirror Bezel can even show extra information. We captured one of Samsung's presentations, where the 140-inch TV was playing a football match while the Mirror Bezel provided live commentary. Check out the photo below.
It's a neat idea, and it feels very Samsung-like, particularly given the company's history with Edge displays for smartphones.
And, in line with Samsung's DNA, it's also quite interesting how the Mirror Bezel can act as an ambient light, similar to Samsung's Core Lighting (available for select monitors) or Philips Hue Sync. Of course, the effect is not as powerful as the latter technology, but it's there.
The question now is whether this 140-inch Micro LED TV, or at least the Mirror Bezel technology, will become more than a prototype. We wish we knew, but even Samsung doesn't have an answer. We'll let you know as soon as we find out more.
