Even though most of Samsung's rivals recorded increased sales year-on-year, the Korean tech giant still came out ahead with a 30.4% market share (down from 35.8% in Q3 2020).
Samsung was reportedly able to maintain the lead in the European smartphone market largely thanks to its supply chain somewhat recovering.
Xiaomi gained almost 10% share in terms of smartphone sales in Europe throughout Q3, and Apple increased its share from 17.6% to 22.1%. Samsung, on the other hand, lost significant ground. Thankfully, it seems like foldable display technology came to the rescue.
According to Counterpoint Research, if it wasn't for the popularity of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 in Europe — particularly in the western half — Samsung would've been in a much worse situation. But thanks (in part) to the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung was able to maintain the lead in Europe with a 30.4% market share, says the market watcher.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the first Samsung clamshell foldable phone to benefit from an IP rating and stereo speakers. It's a fantastic flagship for anyone looking for a compact device, and it seems like plenty of Samsung customers in Europe want just that.
