People find a low-tech solution to the hi-tech Galaxy Z Fold 7's unfolding pain

It's primarily the thinness that makes it difficult, as users can't get enough purchase with their finger or thumb on the frame, so it requires a more conscious effort with both hands to unfold the phone.

It's certainly a marvel of engineering how Samsung got this device to become so thin, even if it may have this unintended consequence for some users. Their workaround involves sticking grip tape on the frame as that provides more friction for their digits and makes one-handed unfolding easier.

Some users swear by this very simple solution while others can't fathom sticking tape on the side of a $1,999 smartphone and taking away the aura of its design. That's not something the vast majority of users will do, and even in our own experience, this problem isn't as bad as it's being made out to be.
