There has been some concern among Samsung fans that the company isn't doing enough to upgrade the camera capabilities on its phones.
Even if it's going slow on actual camera hardware upgrades, it appears that the company may be adding support for some professional-level camera accessories with One UI 8.5.
AndroidAuthority has discovered snippets in the code for Samsung's Camera Assistant app on One UI 8.5 that mentions support for TILTA hardware. For those who are unaware, TILTA is a highly regarded brand that makes lens-control accessories, camera mounts, and other hardware.
The code snippets that have been discovered in this app's One UI 8.5 version make it clear that Samsung is laying the groundwork to bring TILTA hardware support to Galaxy devices.
This functionality doesn't seem to work in the One UI 8.5 beta firmware that has been released already, so it's likely that we may have to wait until the Galaxy S26 series is launched to see it in action.
Given the nature of this hardware, this change is geared more towards professional photographers and videographers. Having support for these devices will enable them to bring their Samsung mobile devices to their shooting workflows, with them being able to remotely control the camera focus on their Galaxy devices.
The public release of One UI 8.5 will likely be set for after the launch of Samsung's next flagship series. The Galaxy S26 series will undoubtedly the first to ship with One UI 8.5 out of the box.
