Samsung is ready to take you on a trip down memory lane, especially if you grew up watching The Super Mario Bros. Super Show in the late '80s and early '90s.
The live-action/animated TV series first launched as a FAST channel on Samsung TV Plus last year. However, this week, Samsung Mexico announced that the Super Mario Bros. channel is expanding into at least one market in North America via TV Plus.
The Super Mario Bros. Super Show is now streaming 24/7 on Samsung TV Plus in Mexico on channel 2260.
Not only does the show bring back the animated Mario and Luigi versions, but it also shines the spotlight on the late '80s live-action ones, voiced by Lou Albano and Danny Wells.
Some episodes feature special guests, including the legendary basketball player Magic Johnson. And for long-standing Nintendo fans, especially fans of the Legend of Zelda franchise, the new FAST Samsung TV Plus channel features all 13 episodes of The Legend of Zelda animated series from 1989.
The original cartoon based on The Legend of Zelda has become a part of gaming history, and Link's iconic phrase from the show, “Well, excuse me, Princess!” became a meme before memes were a thing on social media.
These old Nintendo animated shows might not be the best in terms of animation quality or writing, and they have their critics. Some say these shows are so bad they're good.
Either way, many people who grew up watching these shows are very nostalgic about them. The shows are good for a laugh and perfect for gaming historians or people who want something classic playing in the background in their gaming rooms.
As of now, it's unclear if the new Super Mario Bros. Super Show FAST channel will reach Samsung TV Plus in more North American markets besides Mexico, or when.
We'll keep you posted. But if you have access to Samsung TV Plus in your market, try your luck and go to channel 2260 on your TV. You might be greeted by gaming's most iconic characters of all time.
