Earlier this month, Samsung detailed the January 2026 security patch for its Android and Wear OS devices. The brand started rolling it out first to Galaxy smartphones and then to Galaxy tablets. Now, the company is offering it to Galaxy Watch models.
The first Samsung smartwatch to get it is the Galaxy Watch 5. Currently, the brand is rolling out the update to the non-cellular (Wi-Fi + Bluetooth) variant of the wearable. It is 147.29MB in size and carries firmware version R910XXU1DYL6.
The January 2026 security patch fixes a total of 55 security vulnerabilities present in the previous version of the OS, making the Galaxy Watch 5 more secure than before. At the moment, the update seems to be live in European countries. We expect the brand to start rolling it out in other regions in the next few days.
To update your Galaxy Watch 5, open the Galaxy Wearable app and navigate to Watch Settings > Watch software update > Download and install. If you also have a Galaxy smartphone, it is worth pointing out that Samsung is developing One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2) for these devices. You can check out its features in our video below.
