Samsung is rolling out software updates to two of its Galaxy A series smartphones, the Galaxy A53 and the Galaxy A36. They bring the January 2026 security patch, which fixes 55 security issues.
Currently, Samsung is rolling out the updates to the international variant of the Galaxy A53 and the European variant of the Galaxy A36, which have model numbers SM-A536E and SM-A366B.
We expect Samsung to start offering the January 2026 security patch to other variants of the two smartphones in the next few days. To check if the brand has made the update available for your device, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. The firmware files are also available to download from our database. Once you download them, use Samsung’s Odin tool to install them on your device.
The Galaxy A53 and the Galaxy A53 will soon get a major software update, which will offer One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2). It offers a new user interface that looks cleaner and more modern, and it is also more customisable. Along with that, you get a ton of new features. You can check them out in our video below. Samsung is expected to start rolling it out to eligible devices soon after launching the Galaxy S26 series.
