Samsung has just started rolling out the stable One UI 8 update to some phones, but leaks of One UI 8.5 have already started doing the rounds of the internet. We also confirmed today that One UI 8.5-based firmware has references to One UI 9.0. Now, a massive leak of One UI 8.5 has appeared, revealing the UI design of Samsung's upcoming software.

One UI 8.5 brings redesigned stock apps

X user ThatDev (@Feruzbek_101) has posted a 6-minute-long video of what appears to be a Galaxy phone running One UI 8.5. It shows the the UI design of the home screen, Settings, Device Care, Galaxy Themes, and Studio (built-in video editor).

Home screen

There doesn't seem to be any change to stock app icon design language, app drawer (and Finder), widgets, or folders. The app launcher's version has upped from 17.0.x in One UI 8.0 to 17.5.x in One UI 8.5.

Settings

You can see the One UI 8.5 branding in the phone's Software update screen and that Samsung has shaken things up a bit as to how the software update section appears. It first shows the current One UI version, while the ‘Check for updates' section is at the bottom of the screen.

Currently, you had to navigate to Settings » Software update » Download and install to check for a new software update.

Phone

The default dialer app appears to have received a major design change. Tabs Dialer, Call Log, and Contacts no longer take up the entire width of the screen. Rather, they appear in a pill-shaped dock-like element on the bottom of the screen. The call button also has a drop shadown effect, which isn't present in One UI 8.0.

It also has a new feature called Direct Voicemail, which is similar to iOS 18's Live Voicemail feature. It will display live transcription as well.

Galaxy Themes

The Galaxy Store has a new splash screen, which displays a large paint brush. The app has two sections: Gallery and My Stuff. And there are four tabs: Themes, Backgrounds, Wallpapers, and AODs.

Studio

Similar to the Phone app, One UI 8.5's built-in video editing app, Studio, has a new style of navigation bar at the bottom. It is more compact compared to One UI 8.0 and offers more room to the actual content. It also has an additional tab: Stories. In One UI 8.0, there are just three tabs: Pictures, Albums, and Search.

Device Care

The Device Care section also appears to feature a massive UI design change. The bars that display things like memory, storage, and battery level are now much wider and display a percentage figure. Moreover, the emoji that displays the device condition in One UI 8.0 has been replaced by text in One UI 8.5.
