3D gear isn't cheap, but it is a lot cheaper today!
Reading time: 3 minutes
If you want to enjoy true 3D content on your PC, you don't have many options in 2025. A VR headset is probably the first option you'll think about, but as everyone who has worn a VR headset can tell you, this technology has some drawbacks. For one, it's not the most comfortable to use.
That's probably why, in 2025, Samsung brought back an older idea using modern technologies. Instead of a headset, how about glasses-free 3D on a computer monitor? The new 27-inch Odyssey 3D from Samsung achieves that, and if you want to pre-order it in the UK, you can use a voucher code to save £500. But there's a catch.
According to Samsung's e-shop, the offer is about to expire. The pre-order window will soon close. However, if you pre-order the Odyssey 3D monitor from Samsung UK today, April 29, you can use the voucher code GAMING and save £500.
The 27-inch Odyssey 3D isn't particularly cheap. It costs £1,899. So, saving £500 and bringing the price down to £1,399 is a pretty big deal. If you want to experience 3D on your PC monitor, this is probably the best offer you will find in the foreseeable future.
Remember, you have to use the code GAMING at checkout at the Samsung UK shop, and you have to do it today. Whether or not you miss this deal, you can save up to £100 when you recycle your old monitor.
On the technical side, the Odyssey 3D monitor is pretty bonkers. It uses cameras to track the user's eyes and draw the screen from two slightly different perspectives at the same time — one for each eye. This creates a stereoscopic effect to achieve 3D.
Unfortunately, there is no way to experience this 3D effect through a standard video you might view on a 2D monitor. You have to see the Odyssey 3D with your own eyes to observe the 3D effect live.
Another thing that stands out about this monitor is that it works with (select) video games but also videos. It can turn almost any 2D video into a 3D one, albeit, there are some limitations regarding DRM and HDR content.
Do keep in mind that, in order to achieve the 3D effect, the monitor also requires a relatively powerful PC. But if you already have that covered, the Odyssey 3D monitor from Samsung might deliver a unique experience you never had.
You can also use the Odyssey 3D as a regular monitor without the 3D effect. The only issue with this is the high price compared to other 2D Samsung gaming monitors. However, this £500 limited-time discount makes picking this monitor a lot easier.
