The charging speed mystery deepens.
Reading time: 2 minutes
Samsung hasn't upgraded the charging speeds on its Galaxy S Ultra model for several years now, sticking with 45W wired fast charging. Earlier reports about the Galaxy S26 Ultra had suggested it may finally offer 60W fast charging.
However, recent circumstantial evidence has supported the theory that the 2026 may not see a charging speed upgrade after all, but it's still being claimed that all's not lost on this front.
It was a One UI 8.5 leak that first provided hints about the Galaxy S26 Ultra charging speed being upgraded to 60W. This would be a welcome improvement given that Samsung is expected to keep the battery capacity at 5,000mAh.
All Galaxy S26 models were recently certified in China, with the Galaxy S26 Ultra's certification revealing 45W support. Even the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge were certified with the same 25W speeds as the current sub-Ultra models.
This was a big blow to many fans' expectations for the much needed upgrade. However, at least one source on X is sticking with the expectation, insisting that the charging speeds remain unchanged and the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have 60W support.
More clarity about this is likely to emerge once we have more leaks popping up closer to launch. Until then, it's best to make peace with the fact that at least 45W is guaranteed. It will be a pleasant surprise if Samsung does end up upgrading the Galaxy S26 Ultra charging speed to 60W.
