The “Hey Google” voice command currently brings up Gemini on your Samsung device, enabling you to access a wide range of AI features.
There an expectation that Samsung will expand the number of AI assistants on the Galaxy S26, most notably by adding Perplexity, and it appears that you may be able to access it using the “Hey Plex” voice command.
Reports about a collaboration between Samsung and Perplexity have been going around for months, and we've already seen this partnership materialize. Bixby is tapping into Perplexity, Samsung offers a year's worth of Perplexity Pro in the US, and there's even a dedicated app for Samsung TVs.
None of that provides the kind of visibility being pre-installed on Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup would give Perplexity, though. Android Authority has found hints within the latest Perplexity app for Android that point to a “Hey Plex” voice command for waking up the assistance even when the display is off.
Granted, this would work on all Android phones, not just Samsung. However, specific references to Samsung have been found as well that indicate this voice command's implementation has been highly optimized for Galaxy devices.
Other files discovered in this update also hint at Samsung's plans to pre-install Perplexity on Galaxy devices. There's no clear reference to the Galaxy S26 series, but given that it's first flagship and high profile phone launch of 2026, it's quite likely that we may see this partnership being announced on stage at Unpacked.
