The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a significantly more durable foldable panel compared to its predecessor. Samsung recently confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7's OLED panel can handle over 500,000 folds, a 2.5x improvement over the previous model.
However, that figure represents usage in normal conditions. What would the durability look like if users are in extreme temperatures? Samsung Display has now provided further information.
At 500,000 folds, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 display can now last for up to six years when it's unfolded and folded 200 times a day. That should give peace of mind to even the most heavy of users that the device would go the distance with them. It's also a big jump from the 200,000 folds rating of the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
AndroidAuthority received further information from Samsung Display about how the panel performs under extreme temperatures. The company confirmed that the panel is rated for 300,000 folds at 60 degrees Celcius or 140 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring sustained durability even in some of the most hottest climates.
For those who are in an extremely cold environment, the panel is rated for 60,000 folds at -20 degrees Celsius or -4 degrees Fahrenheit. That may not seem like much but that still comes out to longevity for over four years at 40 folds per day.
The panel's durability has improved 2x at both of these extreme temperatures so it's great to see that Samsung is making sure its foldables can keep their users connected without fail even in harsher climates.
