According to a new report from Bloomberg, Rockstar Games could announce Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) this week. The publication also claims that the game developer plans to release a trailer for GTA 6 next month on the occasion of Rockstar’s 25th anniversary. The latest news comes from people familiar with the company’s plans, says Bloomberg. However, they have reportedly asked not to be identified because they are not allowed to speak on the matter publicly.
Rockstar Games could also reveal details about when it would release GTA 6 during the announcement. According to previous reports, the game will come out sometime in 2024. GTA 6 is a highly-anticipated game that will come as a sequel to Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5), which was released in 2013, and it is not only one of the most popular games ever made but also the second-best-selling game of all time, ranking behind Minecraft, even though it came out ten years ago.
Last year, the footage of the GTA 6 gameplay was leaked online, which gave people their first look at the game and a good idea about what to expect from it. The footage was stolen by two UK nationals by hacking into Rockstar’s network. They were convicted of the crime in London earlier this year. The leaked footage shows that the game is set in Vice City Metro, which is Rockstar’s fictionized version of Miami, and that it has two protagonists, Lucia (a female character) and Jason (a male character).
