Last month, Samsung launched the Galaxy XR, the brand’s first XR headset. It runs on Google’s Android XR OS, supports Android applications (there are also apps for the headset tailored specifically for it), and comes with the Google Play Store, allowing you to easily download the apps you want. Well, Google is now making it easier for Galaxy XR owners to explore and download apps from the Google Play Store.
On the Google Play Store, when you go to an app’s listing and scroll down a little, you will see a horizontal list of types of devices the app supports. When you click on any of the device types, it shows the rating and reviews of the app from the specific device type. Well, this list now offers the ‘XR Headset‘ tab as well, enabling the Galaxy XR users to check the app’s ratings and reviews specific to XR headsets. That's not all.
On the Google Play Store, when you go to the Apps or Games tabs, you will see the Other Devices section in the top bar. It shows devices other than smartphones. Earlier, it mentioned Watch, TV, Chromebook, Tablet, and Windows. Well, it now shows ‘XR Headset‘ as well, making it easier for Galaxy XR owners to discover apps for their device.
As pointed out by Android Authority, the mention of XR Headset in multiple places on the Google Play Store makes people curious about XR headsets. It will make more people search for and buy XR headsets, benefiting Samsung, Android XR, and the XR headset market overall. The latest Google Play Store change seems to be live globally.
