Gemini might soon be able to order you food on your Galaxy device

Google's Gemini AI has been deeply integrated into Samsung's devices. The close collaboration between the two companies also means that there's a good chance that any new Gemini advancements that Google introduces will likely be extended to Samsung products as well.

It appears that Gemini is set to gain new capabilities that may enable it to perform tasks within apps for you, such as ordering you an Uber or having food delivered to you without you having to do those tasks manually.

The folks at 9to5Google have dug into the Google app 17.4 beta and found references to a new “Get tasks done with Gemini” feature. It appears that this may be offered as an experimental Labs feature first.

“Gemini can help with tasks, like placing orders or booking rides, using screen automation on certain apps on your device,” is how the feature has been explained within the beta version.

Google does caution users that Gemini can make mistakes that that “You're responsible for what it does on your behalf, so supervise it closely.” Users will have the power to stop the agent at any time and take over the task.

The way this should work is that you'll tell Gemini to get you an Uber to your office. Gemini will utilize its agentic AI capabilities to launch the app and book the ride for you. That's also how it will work for food delivery.

For example, you'll tell Gemini to order a dish from your favorite Thai place, and it will do that through Uber Eats or other supported apps. This capability won't be available in all apps and Google may only add support for a handful in the beginning.

None of this will be surprising, as it's the natural progression for AI on mobile. It remains to be seen, though, how soon Google brings this capability to Gemini.
