After months of rumors, the Galaxy Z TriFold is now official. Samsung has unveiled its multi-fold device today, confirming many details about the handset.
Given that it's a premium device, one would have expected Samsung to offer the best software update support for it. That's precisely what the company is doing.
The Galaxy Z TriFold will receive seven years of Android OS upgrades, much like the company's other premium handsets. Samsung also mentions support for seven years of security updates, with the support slated to end on December 31, 2032.
Samsung is shipping the device with Android 16 One UI 8 out of the box. This means that it should be good until Android 23 and the corresponding One UI 8 version, which is quite a ways off in the future.
The Galaxy Z TriFold unfolds to reveal a 10-inch display which can effectively provide the same screen real estate as three 6.5-inch phones. It allows for three apps to be run side-by-side for exceptional multitasking. Samsung has equipped it with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and 16GB of RAM as standard to deliver top-notch performance.
The company is making this device available in limited markets for now. Priced at around $2,500, it will first be released in South Korea on December 12. Other markets include the United States, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, China, and Taiwan. Samsung hasn't confirmed as yet precisely when the device will be released in these markets.
