Samsung has begun taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Z TriFold, the company's first trifold phone, in select markets.
The handset is only going to be available in a few countries, and Samsung is now taking pre-orders in one of the world's biggest smartphone markets.
Galaxy Z TriFold pre-orders are now live in China. Pricing starts at 19,999 CNY or $2,830 for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant. The top of the line model which gets 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage is priced at 21,999 CNY or $3,110.
Samsung is taking pre-orders for the device through its online store in China. This is going to be a very tough market for the device as it's one of the few countries where trifold phones already exist. The Galaxy Z TriFold will compete against the Huawei Mate XTs which was launched earlier this year. Its pricing starts a bit lower at 17,999 CNY or $2,550.
The device will only be released in a few countries. South Korea gets first dibs, with the Galaxy Z TriFold slated for release on December 12. China, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States are all set to receive the device in the coming weeks.
Rather interestingly, there's no European market on the release calendar as yet, and the United Kingdom has been left out of the loop as well. It remains to be seen if Samsung will further expand the Galaxy Z TriFold's availability in the next year.
