The Galaxy Z TriFold is Samsung's first tri-folding smartphone. It uses the company's most advanced display, hinge, and battery technologies. It has now been revealed that the tri-folding phone also uses state-of-the-art touchscreen panel and fingerprint reader technologies.
Goodix, a leading fingerprint reader maker for smartphones and laptops, has announced that it has designed the most advanced touchscreen panels and side-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor for the Galaxy Z TriFold. The main & sub touchscreen controller used in the tri-folding phone is a customized industry‑leading solution.
The touchscreen panel offers high driving capability and exceptional resistance to display noise. It is powered by Goodix's custom hardware sampling architecture and noise suppressions algorithms to achieve high signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio. It ensures reliable touchscreen operation for the massive 10-inch display.
The company claims it used a form‑adaptive touch algorithm to recognize different fold states (folded, partially unfolded, and completely unfolded) for accurate touch rejection.
Goodix's capacitive fingerprint reader is just 1.65mm wide, making it the narrowest fingerprint reader in the industry. Its low width make is possible to fit into the Galaxy Z TriFold's 4mm frame.
