The Galaxy Z TriFold, which was just announced, is Samsung's first tri-folding phone. It will be available in only six countries. It has a triple-camera setup on the rear, including a primary camera, an ultrawide camera, and a dedicated telephoto camera, but does that telephoto camera have powerful zoom?
Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Galaxy Z TriFold has a triple-camera setup on the rear, featuring a 200MP primary (wide) camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. Both its screens have 10MP front-facing cameras each.
Despite being Samsung's priciest phone to date, the Galaxy Z TriFold doesn't have the company's best telephoto camera with powerful zoom. That honour still lies with Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, both of which have a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, offering up to 10x optical-grade zoom shots.
Samsung appears to be putting all its efforts into making its foldable phones thin rather than equipping them with the most powerful camera hardware, which is why the company has used the old 10MP camera and paired it with just a 3x optical zoom lens in its tri-folding device.
The phone can record 4K 60fps videos using all its cameras and up to 8K 30fps videos using the primary camera. It supports Super HDR and HDR10+ video recording.
