Borrowing upgrades from the S26.

With the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 this past summer, Samsung finally brought a couple of much-needed camera upgrades to the foldable phone series. This trend will supposedly continue next year with additional camera upgrades for the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
According to new data discovered by GalaxyClub, Samsung's next premium foldable phone, tentatively named Galaxy Z Fold 8, will borrow some Galaxy S DNA and boast upgraded telephoto and ultrawide cameras.
The phone will retain the same 200MP primary shooter and 10MP selfie sensors as the Galaxy Z Fold 7. And no, the under-display camera isn't coming back.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will have a telephoto shooter with the same 3x optical zoom but a higher resolution of 12MP, up from 10MP. It should be the same telephoto sensor that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may employ early next year.
Furthermore, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 reportedly adopts a new ultrawide shooter with a resolution of 50MP, up from the Fold 7's 12MP.
Do take these rumors with a pinch of salt. The source is proven, but it's too early to be sure of anything. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 may be unveiled in July 2026 at the earliest. A lot can change by then.
It will also be interesting to see if any of these Galaxy Z Fold 8 camera upgrades will appear on the first Galaxy Z TriFold sequel.
The latter device is even less certain at the moment, but if the sequel's fate rests on the success of the original TriFold, the latter is doing pretty well and selling out like hotcakes.
In any case, the original TriFold does have the same cameras as the Fold 7. And it's not hard to imagine that the TriFold 2 and Fold 8 may share a similar path.
Anyway, it's a long way to go until either phone goes on sale. If you would like to use a premium foldable device right now, you should check out the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The TriFold is barely available in a couple of markets, plus, the holiday season has treated prospective Fold 7 buyers very kindly.
