Samsung made some meaningful upgrades to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 this year, but the company knocked it out of the park with the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The incredibly thin build along with other upgrades made it the clear winner among Samsung foldables in 2025.
Given how Samsung's upgrade cycles tend to go, perhaps the changes for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be muted, while the Galaxy Z Flip 8 may get more attention. Some rumors point to two particular areas of focus that will certainly bring joy to users.
According to leaks on X, it's claimed that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be considerably thinner. No exact measurements have been provided so it's anybody's guess right now. The claim is plausible because if Samsung were to make major improvements to next year's flip phones, a thinner profile will definitely be on the list.
Upgrades to the display and performance are also claimed, again, with no specifics on offer. Perhaps Samsung could do something to reduce the crease or improve the durability. As far as the performance is concerned, Samsung will likely stick with the Exynos 2600 chipset that it introduces with the Galaxy S26 series next year, as the company has already shifted to Exynos with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 this year.
As it stands, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 8 at some point in the second half of next year. There's nothing to suggest as yet that any change will be made to the launch timeframe.
