From the first-generation Galaxy Z Flip to the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Samsung used Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets in all models of the lineup. That changed with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which became the first device in the series to feature a non-Qualcomm processor. It uses Samsung's in-house developed Exynos 2500 SoC.
With the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Samsung is expected to revise its chipset strategy once again. Reports suggest the upcoming clamshell foldable will use either the Exynos 2600 or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, depending on the market. Now, a new leak sheds light on which regions are likely to get each chipset.
According to a report from Lanzuk on Naver Blog, Samsung will offer the Galaxy Z Flip 8 with an Exynos processor in its home market, South Korea, and a few European regions. In other regions around the world, including Japan, the brand will offer the upcoming phone with a Qualcomm chipset.
The Exynos 2600 is made on Samsung Foundry’s 2nm fabrication process and features a deca-core CPU and the Xclipse 960 GPU. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, on the other hand, is made on TSMC’s 3nm fabrication process and features an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 840 GPU.
