Galaxy Z Flip 7 is Qi2 Ready for wireless charging

Samsung‘s Galaxy S25 series is the brand's first set of smartphones that supports Qi2 Ready. It makes these phones compatible with the Qi2 wireless charging protocol, and by adding a case with magnets, you can attach Qi2 accessories to these devices. Last week, we learned that the brand’s upcoming phone with a book-style foldable display, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, will also offer Qi2 support.

Now, it looks like the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will support the Qi2 wireless charging standard as well, making it compatible with a wide range of Qi2 products, offering people more convenience, and making using the device more fun.

The Wireless Power Consortium has just certified a Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-A846U (QI ID – 24330), saying that it supports Qi 2.1 (also known as Qi2 Ready). It neither belongs to any released or unreleased Samsung phone, nor follows the brand’s model number convention. However, we have a theory that suggests this could be the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

The WPC had listed the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s model number as SM-A822D, but the phone’s actual model number is SM-F731. Considering that the platform used a model number where the letter after ‘SM-‘ is A for the Galaxy Z Flip 5, we assume that the SM-A846U, where the letter after ‘SM-‘ is also A, could also be a Galaxy Z Flip device.

It means that the certification could either be for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 or the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. However, as the latter will be an affordable device, it may not feature the Qi2 support. It leaves us to believe that the SM-A846U is the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and that it supports the Qi2 protocol.

However, there’s still no information on whether the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has magnets for holding and aligning Qi2 accessories or not. Hopefully, we will get to know those details soon.
