We can now confirm that firmware development for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 is underway. More specifically, Samsung is developing firmware for the upcoming Flip phone for Europe, at the very least. Firmware for other regions — and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 — may also be in the works.
It's unclear whether the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will ship with One UI 7 or One UI 7.1, but if history is any indication, it should be the latter. Every new flagship should introduce at least a minor One UI upgrade.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 might not be all that different from its predecessor. Time will tell, but rumors have said it might not bring major changes.
Nevertheless, Samsung appears to have big plans this year. The Galaxy S25 Edge is on its way, along with Samsung's new XR headset. And as far as foldable phones go, Samsung teased a dual-hinge foldable phone at Unpacked in January.
Having said that, the next Unpacked event might be full of surprises, even if the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 won't stray from the formula. But for the time being, the main takeaway is that we now know Samsung has started developing the firmware for the next-gen Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Given how interesting One UI 7 already is, we're eager to see what Samsung might have in store for the 2025 foldable series, how it will improve upon this already-ambitious One UI version, and maybe what new Galaxy AI features Samsung might be cooking. As always, we'll keep you posted.
